How to Prepare a Photo or Screenshot for Better Image-to-Excel Results
A converter can only infer structure from the pixels it receives. A cleaner source image gives OCR and table reconstruction better evidence to work with.
Keep the whole table visible
Do not crop away column headers, row labels or the outer edges of the table. Those elements provide context for where cells begin and end. Remove unrelated page content only when you can keep the full table intact.
Reduce perspective and rotation
A photo taken from a strong angle can turn a rectangular grid into a trapezoid. If possible, photograph the table from directly above or in front of it, keep the camera parallel to the page, and avoid visible rotation.
Protect small characters
Blur, compression artifacts, glare and shadows can make 8 look like 3, 0 like O, or a decimal point disappear. Use the sharpest available source and make sure small numbers are readable at normal zoom before conversion.
Preserve contrast without destroying detail
Dark text on a clean background is easier to recognize than text hidden by shadows, colored overlays or reflections. Avoid repeatedly saving a low-quality screenshot or photo because each lossy generation can remove character detail.
Acceptance check after conversion
A better source improves the evidence available to the converter; it does not eliminate the need to verify the workbook. Compare headers, totals, dates, decimal values and identifiers against the original image.
